cfcc is the abbreviation of china forest certification council, which is the management body of china's forest certification system. in the 1990s, china carried out forest certification related work to develop a certification system suitable for china's national conditions and forest conditions. the construction of china forest certification scheme (cfcs) started in 2001 and was completed and put into operation in 2010.
in 2015, the number of approved forest certification bodies in china increased to 12, and the forest certification rules, the forest certification authority accreditation scheme, and the auditor registration criteria were released, and the overall system framework of forest certification was formed. in 2016, the first forum of forest certification institutions was held since the establishment of a unified forest certification system. cfcc participated in the international conference on forest certification and participated in the exhibition. in 2017, the tenth meeting of cfcc decided to set up china forest certification promotion department in east china and south china promotion center, and the first batch of chinese wood and bamboo industry "china forest certification - chain of custody demonstration(pilot)" was officially launched; the cnca and the state forestry administration of the people's republic of china jointly issued a notice on the "production and commercial management of rare and endangered plants" certification into the "forest certification rules"; green product evaluation series standards issued, furniture, wood-based panels and wood flooring green product evaluation indicators are clearly included in the forest certification requirements.
cfcc in february 2014 with pefc (programme for the endorsement of forest certification schemes) that forest certification system to realize the mutual recognition approval program. the pefc accreditation council is an independent non-profit non-governmental organization established in 1999 to promote sustainable forest management through independent third-party accreditation.
chain of custody (coc) certification is the path for a product (wood, paper, etc.) from the forest, or in the case of recycled materials, from the recycling site to a place of sale with a declared product or labeled finished product. coc includes the stages of purchasing, processing, trading and selling, as well as the ownership changes involved in the process to the next stage of the supply chain. any change in ownership of a coc certified product should be accompanied by the establishment of a coc management system.
fsc aims to provide reliable assurance that products sold under a particular claim originate from well-managed forests, controlled sources, recycled materials, or mixtures of these materials. coc certification helps goods made from these materials move transparently through the supply chain. the trademarks of certified products and the promotion of the products with the corresponding forest certification trademarks can help consumers make informed decisions based on the commodities and their raw materials when choosing to buy.
