gcc is the abbreviation of the gulf cooperation council. its member states are kingdom of saudi arabia, kuwait, the united arab emirates, qatar, the sultanate of oman, the kingdom of bahrain and the republic of yemen. it is an important political and economic organization in the middle east.
gcc requires that products exported to member states not only meet essential health, safety and environmental requirements, but also meet the gulf technical regulations set out by the gso (gcc standards organization). gulf conformity marking is mandatory on all regulated products and packaging. this is where the g-mark certification comes from. all regulated products exported to the gulf member states can be successfully sold in the local markets after obtaining the g-mark certificate without impediment in custom ports. the products can also be allowed to be freely distributed and traded in gcc member states' markets more quickly and conveniently.
after obtain gulf type examination certificate（g-mark certification）, these products will be registered in gso's product tracking system . gso conformity tracking symbol (gcts) must be indicated on products and packaging.

1. authorized scope
gulf technical regulation for low voltage electrical equipment and appliances bd-142004-01 applies for all electrical and electronic devices and appliances and fixtures that contain electrical and /or electronic components designed for use with a voltage rating of between 50 and 1000v for alternating current and between 75 and 1500 v for direct current (dc). the technical regulation deals with safety essential requirements and emc, as well as protection against hazards arising from the electrical equipment and against hazards, which may be caused by external influences on the electrical equipment.

specialized electrical equipment, for use on ships, aircrafts or railways, which complies with the safety provisions drawn up by international bodies in which the member states participate
○ products in the list of gcc regulated product should be tested and conformity assessed for g-mark certificate in accordance with relevant technical regulations by the notified body, which is designated by gso.
